On Saturday afternoon, after stopping in East Troy at LD BBQ or Gus' Drive-In, some of us enjoyed a trip as Lauber's Old Fashioned Ice Cream Parlor. From there, class members arrived in small groups at Old World Wisconsin to ride the tram and visit the historic sites. At the Norwegian homestead Clark Brekke, Shirley Klamm, Andy Watson, Gail Taggert, David K. Miller, Sandy Olson, Kim Cade, Judy Hande-Stutnick, Mike Palecek and Kevin Podeweltz posed for a group picture. Museum staff in period costumes demonstrated using natural dyes to dye hand-carded wool turned into yarn using a spinning wheel.
Dana told the class "if you are ever in Madison, stop by and see our log cabin home." The class reunion developed from there.
Monday, August 16 began with a half-day Dana Kelly presentation at Madison's Norwegian-American Genealogical Society and Naeseth Library.
On Monday afternoon, Brian Bigler, a Mount Horeb Driftless Historium volunteer and former Little Norway tour guide and manager, shows one of the earliest Per Lynse rosemaling pieces known to exist.
