Nordkap 378, Detroit, MI--Lodge members have been participating in the District's virtual walk to Norway to benefit its youth heritage camp. These long shadows ask, "Are we there yet?"

“Let’s do it!” was the battle cry of two crafty members of Grønnvik Lodge in Green Bay. Darlene Gast and Rita Running designed and created gnomes to lift the spirits of members who were able to attend the monthly meeting in July. And lift they did! Each family left with a gnome and a beautiful Pegasus begonia plant, courtesy of Schroeder’s Flowers. Owners and lodge members Charles and Peggy Schroeder also provided the venue and the evening’s program, a backstage look at the historic greenhouse’s operation.

Fosselyngen Lodge our virtual Christmas Meeting which featured a video visit by the Norwegian Julenisse, played for many years by Daryl Wunrow. The Julenisse greeted everyone and called for “Good Children”, then the nisse read two Norwegian Christmas stories.

Betty Landorf of Naperville, Ill., shows a Norwegian fyrstekake, "royal cake," she made Jan. 9 in a virtual Norwegian baking class led by Barb Johnson of Yorkville, Ill., cultural director for Sons of Norway Polar Star Lodge 5-472. About 10 persons attended the hour-long Zoom class from Johnson’s kitchen. She plans monthly classes in February and March.
