Our “featured” event: The Wisconsin State Rosemaling Association's Holiday Bazaar: Saturday, October 29 from 9 AM – 2 PM. This is your opportunity to purchase rosemaled items and learn more about this group’s activities, classes, competitions and sales. A wide variety of quality items will be offered – you won’t want to miss this shopping opportunity. NEW this year—WSRA Hand-Painted Collector Bags!  $20 and $25.  Start your collection, take home your treasures in it, and support WSRA’s commitment to education!!Location: Stoughton Fire Department's Training Room, 401 East Main Street, Stoughton, WI

Friday, October 28-
  • Nordic Nook - 176 W. Main Street. We'll be celebrating our Anniversary Weekend with the Annual Blow-out Sweater Sale! Stop by to visit the Christmas Shop Grand Opening! 10am-5pm
  • Historic Depot and Museum Open 9am-3:30pm, 532 E. Main Street.  The original passenger train station built in 1913 will be open and available for tours.  A museum is in the building, with original Mandt wagons on display.
  • Livsreise- Norwegian Heritage Center- 277 W. Main Street. Open from 9:30-4:30. Free admission.
  • Stoughton Opera House- 381 E. Main Street. The Honey Dewdrops at 7:30pm. More information can be found at www.stoughtonoperahouse.com under the events listing.
  • Cheesers- (Downtown on Main Street), 183 East Main Street offers about 120 varieties of cheese with approximately 75% of them available for sampling. The artistic cheese trays, custom gift baskets and boxes are signature items for Cheesers. The boxes are sent nationwide and reach a wide customer base. Cheesers is open Monday- Friday from 9-5:30. Saturday, October 29-
  • Wisconsin State Rosemaling Association’s Holiday Bazaar- 9 am to 2 pm at the Stoughton Fire Department Training Room, 401 East Main Street, Stoughton, WI.
  • Livsreise- Norwegian Heritage Center- 277 W. Main Street. Open from 9:30-4:30. Free admission. Program from 1-2 PM: Karen Swensson presents “Conversations Loosely Translated: A Story of Koshkonong Prairie Pioneers”. Karen’s extensively researched descriptions of her ancestors’ journey from Norway to Amerika to reflect the experiences of many Norwegian emigrants in the mid-1800s.
  • Cheesers- (Downtown on Main Street), 183 East Main Street offers about 120 varieties of cheese with approximately 75% of them available for sampling.   • Stoughton High School Norwegian Dancers: Community Building Activities- 320 North Street
  • 2:00 pm  Halloween Costume judging by the Dancers, ages 0-12, at the Community Building.
  • 3:00 pm. The Dancers will be performing at the Community Building with trick or treating for the kids.
  • Oval: Continued4:00 pm. The Dancers and Trick or Treaters will parade down to Main Street where they can continue to trick or treat at area businesses.
  • Stoughton Historical Society, 324 South Page, will be open from 11 AM- 3 PM. For a $2 donation, visit Stoughton's museum featuring displays including Ever-changing Main Street, bunads, rosemaling, history of tobacco around Stoughton, various Norwegian collections, a fire truck, much more!
  • Stoughton Chamber Activities: Downtown Trick or Treating from 3-5 PM. Stores participating in trick or treating will have a sign displayed. The costume contest is at 2 PM in the Community Building. Halloween Costume Contest- Open to your ages 0-12. Held in the Community Building.
  • Stoughton Opera House- 381 E. Main Street. -Vicki Lawrence & Mama: A Two-Woman Show: Oct 29, 3pm & 7pm. More information can be found at www.stoughtonoperahouse.com under the events listing.
  • Sons of Norway – 317 South Page Street. The building will be open from 8:30 AM-2:30 PM.
    • Sons of Norway sales and 90th anniversary display from 9:00-2:00 PM. Cookbook sales, dragon t-shirts, postcards, youth Stoughton shirts, and a variety of Norwegian and American baked goods including lefse, donuts will be sold. Enjoy a heart shaped waffle with the treats along with wieners, chips, pop and coffee.
    • Hardanger Embroidery: Come see the traditional Norwegian embroidery on display from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM on Oct. 25.  The presentation at 11:30 am, lower level, will point out the unique characteristics of this beautiful handwork technique of thread count embroidery. There will also be Hardanger pieces for sale!
    • Syttende Mai Festival Table sponsored by Stoughton Chamber of Commerce: Tricia Suess, Syttende Mai Coordinator, will be on hand with information about the 2017 Syttende Mai Festival.  You’ll find information about dates and events, how to become a food vendor, how to enter the button design contest, how to sponsor or volunteer and more! Get your application for the 2017 Prince & Princess drawing! Table staffed from 9am-1pm.
  • Downstairs: Lefse Making Clinic 9-11 AM downstairs. $10 for ages 11 and over. $5 for youth 10 and under. No pre-registration. We will begin at 9 AM and 10 AM and the session lasts about an hour. We will supply all ingredients and equipment. You’ll learn to mix, roll, fry, cool and package, and take some home to enjoy!
  • Pumpkin Carving Contest-Norwegian themed…Vikings, trolls, Frozen, use your imagination! Drop off between 8 am and 1 pm.  Winners announced at 2.
  • Trick or Treating We welcome kids of all ages at Mandt lodge from 2 – 2:30 PM
Sunday, October 30-

  • Sons of Norway- 317 South Page Street. Mandt Lodge 90th Anniversary Open House We are celebrating our 90th anniversary!  Open house from 1-4 PM with a program at 2:30.  Displays, cake, membership recognition, and refreshments.
  • Koshkonong Prairie Historical Society- Christiana Township Hall, 773 Koshkonong Road, Cambridge. Noon. Free admission. Join KPHS for a complimentary luncheon followed by a program presented by author and KPHS member Karen Swensson. Ms. Swensson's delightful book, "Conversations Loosely Translated," describes the journey of her pioneer immigrant ancestors to their new home on the Koshkonong prairie. Autographed copies of her book will be available for purchase.
