New Lodge Instituted and Chartered

Ulseth Lodge 670 in Calumet Michigan newest Lodge in District 5!

Ulseth Lodge 5-670, Calumet, MI was instituted on June 25, 2006 at Hancock, MI.  President Harland Anderson was assisted by International Director, Jostein Bakken, Mary Jane Bennett, District Secretary, Raymond Knutson, District Treasurer and Marie Peterson, Publicity Director and Zone Director for Ulseth 670.

Mary Jane Bennett presented the names of 48 new members who were then elected to Membership of Ulseth Lodge 670.  Jostein Bakken, assisted by Raymond Knutson and Marie Peterson conducted the initiation ceremony for the new members.


Election of officers for the term ending December 2007 was held followed by the Installation of officers by President Anderson assisted by Raymond Knutson and Marie Peterson.


District Five presented Ulseth Lodge 670 with three national flags, regalia and gavel.  Raymond Knutson, District Treasurer presented the escrow check to the new lodge The meeting was followed by a potluck supper.


The District Five Officers were treated to a complete tour of the Norwegian Lutheran Church being restored in Calumet, MI.  The church when restored will serve as the meeting place for Ulseth Lodge 670.


On August 27 District Five held the Charter meeting for Ulseth Lodge with 63 members. The meeting was held in Hancock, MI. New members were offered a welcome ceremony (new term for initiation ceremony) conducted by International Director Jostein Bakken. Vice President Gilbert Bergsrud and Raymond Knutson assisted in the Welcome ceremony.  President Anderson read the names on the Charter and Charter pins were presented by District Five Secretary Mary Jane Bennett.


District Five Officers reported on the recent International Convention.  Vice President Gilbert Bergsrud reported on his work with membership and Adopt-A-School.

At the close of the meeting of Ulseth Lodge 670 a potluck supper was offered.
